You don’t have to carry vehicle documents while driving,Thanks to PITB
PITB has recently launched a mobile application for the identification of the ownership of the vehicles of the citizens which will prove to be helpful for the taxation department immensely.
As often an ordinary citizen forgets to keep the original documents while driving and faces unpleasant situation upon encountering police or excise officer. Now the excise officers will verify vehicle ownership by just clicking the app installed in their smartphones. The app is only meant for the excise department so far.
DG Excise and Taxation Punjab, Ahmed Aziz Tarar praised the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for its ultimate commitment to enhance the efficiency of the governmental services by providing resourceful IT expertise.
He specifically applauded PITB the way it is supporting Punjab Excise Department in order to collect the taxes in a smooth way and said that PITB is always there to assist the department to bring about IT reforms.
Director Excise also mentioned about the website of the department which is www.excise-punjab.gov.pk containing sufficient details about the department and its dynamics. He added that a new helpline 08000-8786 is being introduced with the help of PITB through which the citizens can call and record their queries. The helpline will be available 24/7.
He said that the current era is all about implementing information technology in different fields of life and the efficiency in the government departments can be increased manifolds using latest means which eventually deliver better services to the citizens.
While talking about some stats, he said that the department has set 22 Billion PKR target for tax collection for the current fiscal year. Excise department collects the tax from 3.9 million different properties and some 11.44 million vehicles are registered against from which the taxes are collected.
